Sony's PlayStation 3 has many interesting features as they can act as the PS3 and Blu-Ray DVDs. One of these features is the ability to stream media content from your PC to your PS3. This allows you to choose pictures, music or video files stored on your computer, and they have shown big screen TV, without copying any files to the PS3 console, so you save valuable time. When properly configured, the streaming media content is almost as fast and as easy as rebooting your PC and PS3. The good news is that it is easy to do without buying software or messing with the console. I advise an easy four step installation process and you'll be streaming out in no time!
Step 1: Equipment.
The first requirement is that you have a computer Wi-Fi feature. If your computer does not have WiFi, you need to connect your computer directly to your PS3 via the cable, but if so I think it would probably be less hassle, you can simply copy the media content, USB keys, and a PS3 to read files from it. The advantage of streaming files, WiFi is that you can go "on the fly," to spend time connecting your PS3 to your computer in a way it is blank. That said, it will call.
Step 2: Enabling Media Server for PS3 console
PlayStation 3 console is already involved in the ability to stream media, but this feature is usually turned off and the new consoles is turned on. To do so, log in to the PS3 and select the "Settings" on your main screen. PS3 main menu, select [Settings], and then scroll all the way down the [Network Settings]. From there, scroll all the way down again [Media Server Connection], and to allow it. By doing this, you are now aware of the instructions for the console is in the vicinity of other electronic devices that are set to share media content.
Step 3: Setting up your computer
There are several applications available that allows you to stream media from your computer, but all computers equipped with Windows Media Player in that capacity. I'm going to first explain how the stream in Windows Media Player and then I'll show you another way to use free software available for download.
) Windows Media Player
Note that I'm using Windows Media Player version 11 I would also like to mention that even if the streaming can be done via Windows Media Player, I find that this method is more complicated and less reliable. I'll post it here to mean information, but I strongly suggest that you consider option B, because it is less hassle to setup. First of all, start Windows Media Player and select [Library] and then [Media Sharing]. Under [Sharing Settings] and select [Find media that others share] and [Share with the media]. In this same window you are currently on, you gotta see the PS3 and other devices are shown in white box under the two options that we have just used. Select your PS3 console, and then [allow] the options below. Follow the onscreen instructions to which folders on your computer inside your media files. Because some people in your "video" and "image" folders are already selected. You should now be all good to go, and go to step 4
b) Free Software Installation
One of the best-known software called TVersity streaming media, and luckily they offer a free version in addition to their full-featured Pro version. Advantage of using this software is that it will automatically make all the sharing settings automatically. You should be able to find TVersity with no problems typing it into your favorite search engine. Download the free version and follow their instructions. When the PS3 has already been introduced for media sharing, the software should have no problem installing and getting everything ready. Now is the last step!
Step 4: Stream stream baby!
After all the efforts you are now ready to stream media files from your PC to your PS3. To do so, either select [Image] [Music] or [video] from the PS3 main menu is based on what type of file you want to stream. For this article, suggests that we want to stream video (instructions are the same for all three materials, so do not worry). Now, since we have a PS3 Media Server in step 1, you should see the [Search for Media Server Connection] under non-selectable option: to select it. The PS3 is now scan the surrounding media servers, and if all goes well (fingers crossed!) It will find on your computer. If you get a "no media servers retrieved" message, it means that something is wrong computer settings. If you're lucky, the PS3 now say "1 Media Server Found". Close that window and now go to the PS3 all the way down until you see the name of the media server, which is usually the "name" of your computer. Select it from the list and bingo, you can now browse the folders, select the media file and send it to the TV. Now, remember that steam music you have to go through the PS3 in the Music menu, and "Figure" images, etc. .. or otherwise the PS3 may not be detected files.
At last, I hope these suggestions will help to setup a stream files from your PC PS3 If you encounter problems, support is available online (another good reason to use TVersity or other media sharing software, because they often provide useful FAQ and tips for common known problems).
Great post! I felt like you did a great job of giving a general explanation this topic. Far too often people will give so much information on what they think something is that they will confuse the reader. What you wrote was short to the point and very informative.
